Instructions on how to Audition using Smart Music (must be received by May 28th)

MAKE SURE TO READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS - if you do not, you may invalidate your audition

1. On your computer – make sure you have headphones plugged in and a microphone attatched.
2. After installing SmartMusic, click and open the application
3. A menu will open. Click on FIND MUSIC
4. Click on MUSIC LIBRARY
   • For Jazz – click on Jazz Ensemble
   • For Concert Bands – click on Concert Band
5. To find your piece of music you can hit SEARCH and find the piece of music you wish to audition on.
6. Open any part you wish to play (ie. 1st Alto Sax, 2nd Flute, 3rd Trumpet, Drums)
7. After you have practiced your piece, Hit the Record Button and play your audition into SmartMusic
8. Once you have finished the recording you can, Preview it and Save it.
9. VERY IMPORTANT - If you are happy with our audition, Hit Save and save it as YOURNAME ( you will need to do this in order to evaluate the performance)
10. VERY IMPORTANT PART #2 – After you save hit the Cancel button
11. VERY IMPORTANT PART #3 – After you cancel, find the Assessment Button and click on Show/Send Grade.
12. Check every option available – include grade, include Notation Screenshot, include Audio File and hit the EMAIL RESULTS BUTTON and send to david.duarte@dh.dvusd.org
13. At this point you are done (make sure the email sent)

*NOTE - if you make Youngsounds 5 or 7oclock bands you will automatically be placed into Jazz I
