FUN ABODA MARCHING FACTS (got any more?)
- in 1980 ABODA Switched the format to Ratings only
- 1980-1982 you had to get a Superior at your first marching festival to go to State
- In 1983 you just had to get a Superior in one festival
- 1984-present: all you needed was an Excellent or Superior to qualify for State
- 1980-late 80's Ratings were by judges on overall performance
- late 80's until 2000: Points were out of 1000
- 80% and above = superior , 60% to 79.9% = excellent, etc.
- creation of categories (music, visual, per, aux, dm)
- also in the late 80s - state splits into 2 division (I and II/III with II/III having separate awards but the same site)
- early 90s: division III gets its own site with in-state judges
- 2001-2004 - points reduced to 100 and the scoing scale went to 90,80,70,60
- 2005 - a sliding scale is introduced
